An immersive walk which tells a story about a home, a garden and a public space which is now closed. The audience heard and saw stories, participated in a collective dance and drank tea made from the herbs in the garden. A vocabulary was constructed based on different spots of the garden. This vocabulary became a language transcribed into a movement sequence which was taught to the audience.
The site is an old 18th century house in San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico. The house is renown for its beautiful garden which once belonged to the American anthropologist couple Robert M.Laughlin and Miriam ‘Mimi’ Laughlin, who over 30 years collected and planted a huge range of indigenous plants. The house now belongs to Pronatura Sur, a civil association that promotes environmental conservation.
